Still in Nelson

Nelson is another spot on Dave's and my list of "places we would like to live in New Zealand" - it's a nice size, has lots to do, is by the ocean, is in an area with wineries and has golf courses. And apparently it has the most sunshine of anywhere in New Zealand.

This morning Dave went golfing to the Nelson Golf Club, situated on a little promentory along the ocean. It's a typical links style course, with lots of fescue in the rough, and a lot of little elevation changes without being tough to climb. Not irrigated, so you get longer shots than you are used to. There was some wind today, and Dave was by himself, so lost a couple of balls in the fescue. As usual, he was playing golf so had a good morning. I slept in a little, shopped a little, and boiled the sea shells I found for Milo yesterday to get rid of the ocean smell (although you can still "hear the ocean" if you hold them up to your ear).

After Dave returned we went down to the marina to have lunch (photo is view from restaurant). Great fresh fish. We also went to look at the beach in town.

Then we went to the WOW and Classic Car museum - WOW stands for World of Wearable Art. You weren't allowed to take photos inside the museum, but there were bizarre and fantastic costumes from the 2010 WOW awards show, and some keepers from other years. I took one photo of a costume outside the museum so you have an idea - this one was outside the classic car museum. I took a photo of a 3 wheeled vehicle, largely because it reminded me of Dave's cousin Leslie McKeague's collection (in Ireland).

A quieter, but still fun, day. The weather a little cooler, and variable cloud, but still summer!
