At 12 we were picked up for our Hawkes Bay wine tour, which was great. It was a van with the guide, Dave and I, and 4 others (a Colorado couple who had moved to North Palmerston in December, and a young couple from Singapore, he originally from NZ and she orginally from Japan). We went to 3 boutique wineries that don't export to Canada, and one winery that does (although not to SK). We started with a tasting and lunch at Black Barn Vineyards, then had a tasting at Abbey Cellars (where photo above is taken). Our tasting included one of each of those bottles. Even though amounts are small, 8 tastes at 4 wineries adds up!
We then went on to Sileni Estates (the one that exports to Canada) and finished up with a great cheese tray and a final tasting at Ngataraw & Farmgate wines. That is where I took the photo of the vineyard, where the grapes have set, but don't start to ripen until later this month. Wine tours are always a fun day, and this is our first of four wine tours.
